Meet Our Team
Dave Shilton
Dave Shilton started his insurance career in 1978 with Preferred Risk Insurance Company, working with families for their home, auto, and life insurance. In 1980 he was promoted to manager in the Grand Rapids office. The Grotenhuis Group hired Dave in 1985 to manage their personal lines department. Dave started the Church department in 1987, working primarily with Brotherhood Mutual. In 2000, Dave started his own agency, known as Shilton & Associates. For over 31 years, Dave has worked with Churches, Camps, and Christian Schools throughout Michigan and the Midwest, where he has made many new friends and developed great relationships. Today, Dave works with his two sons to serve hundreds of ministries in Michigan as well as several other states.
Jared Shilton
Growing up I regularly attended Church, volunteered in the nursery, went on missions trips, and went to almost every youth activity that I could. After high school I attended Cornerstone University, and helped run the youth program at the Church. I loved being involved in the Church. Reason being, early on I understood that I needed a Savior and excepted Christ into my life. Being at Church, and Church events helped me to grow closer in my walk with Him. As a bonus I even met my wife at a Church related event. We have little kids running around, and they too love attending Church events, Church camps, and VBS.
Today, I find myself working alongside Ministries every day. Through Insurance we are able to provide ministries with insurance to protect their ministry and people, and also help manage those risk. We love to serve Ministries through insurance. We find that there is more to insurance than claims, and premiums…..we want to help to develop risk management plans, and strategies to help protect ministries. We want to be able to take that burden from them, so that they can continue to Minister to people, and build the body of Christ.
Chad Shilton
Growing up in a family that followed God allowed me to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ at a young age. This shaped my heart for God and for people. My family attended church regularly. This allowed me, first hand, to learn about the inner workings of the church, and ministry. I attended Cornerstone University where I continued to learn what is was like to follow Christ. In 2007 I married Kelli and we started a family. God started working in me as a husband and a father. In 2014 God revealed a little more of His plan for my life and showed me that it was time to leave my current job and join Shilton and Associates. The opportunity to work with churches, other Christian ministries, and non profits has already opened the door for seeing how God is working. I have already been blessed by conversations and relationships that come with this ministry.
Mary Beth Settles
Raised with a strong foundation of faith, I strive to live a life devoted to God and my family.
I am the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Makenzie (21) & Madelyn (16), who remind me of my blessings every day. Originally from Louisville, KY., I attended the University of Louisville and graduated with a BA in Psychology. My family, and I, spent a few years living in Florida, Illinois, and Indiana. In 1999, we moved to Michigan and have called it home since. I have worked in the health, homeowners, mortgage, and auto insurance industries. In 2008, I joined Shilton & Associates, Inc. and have never been happier. I am fulfilled and truly enjoy working for a place that provides comprehensive insurance needs to churches, camps, schools, and non-profits. It is a daily pleasure to offer friendly and professional customer service to our insureds.
